60 in 30: Day 30

Day 30: Your favorite thing about the tumblr/blogger community.

Ree: How supportive everyone is of each other, and how they care.

Jeannie:  The honesty and openness!  It’s not “omg my life is perfect” all the time. You all have your highs and lows, and I love that you are so open with the rest of the tumblr community.

60 in 30: Day 29

Day 29: One thing you wish you could change about yourself.

Ree: I’m not as fit as I’d like to be. So I’m changing that.

Jeannie:  Being unsure of myself.  Which stems from insecurity.  Which comes from being self-obsessed.

60 in 30: Day 28

Yes, we’re late. =P

Day 28: A picture of yourself sans makeup.

Ree: Here’s me all squinty with my chipmunk cheeks. =D

Jeannie:

60 in 30: Day 27

Day 27: What books do you read?

Ree: History books, biographies, historical fiction, some regular fiction if it’s old, mysteries, The Adventures of Tintin… and the Lincoln Library Book of Essential Information. You know what, there’s an easier way, here’s a picture of some of them:

Jeannie:  Futuristic novels of the dystopian society-esque variety, or legal thrillers, or fatalistic, bittersweetly-ending historical fiction… I don’t like reading what “everyone else” is reading.  Ever.  My all-time favorite book would have to be “Green Dolphin Street” by Elizabeth Gouge - it’s one of those that you can read once in about five years because it’s so emotionally draining. The picture below is not my complete collection.

60 in 30: Day 26

Day 26: What music do you listen to?

Ree:  Because it was distracting to me, I wasn’t allowed to listen to music with words while I did my schoolwork, so I would listen to classical and, later on, movie soundtracks. The habit has stuck with me after six years, so now I listen to a lot of soundtracks, some country, and to whatever Jeannie is listening.

Jeannie:   I don’t.  I don’t listen in the car because that’s my thinking time, and I don’t while I do my school because I can’t concentrate.  When I do, though, I’m really into Christina Perri, Ingrid Michaelson, and “Dreamers” by Savoir Adore.

60 in 30: Day 25

Day 25: What you wear everyday.

Ree:  A sweater and jeans.

Jeannie:  My winter uniform = t shirt or cami, a cardigan, jeans, and suede boots.  That is all.

60 in 30: Day 24

Day 24: What do you wear to work out?

Ree:  Depending on the circumstances, I wear what’s linked below - tank top or tee and shorts.

Jeannie:  It varies!  Anything from a band tshirt with sweats to my favorite pink workout tank top  (see it in this post) and shorts.

60 in 30: Day 23

Day 23: A skill of yours.

Ree:  I call it eye aerobics.

Jeannie:  Expressions.  I’m a dynamic conversationalist.

60 in 30: Day 22

Day 22: Your biggest fear.

Ree: I have an irrational fear of sharks. It’s irrational because I live hundreds and hundreds of miles away from every ocean. =P But I live near the Great Lakes which has deep water, and thinking about sharks whilst swimming in said water can create paranoia.

Jeannie: Theme park rides scare the living daylights out of me and not in the fun “let’s-do-it-again” kind of way.

60 in 30: Day 21

Day 21: Your inspiration.

Ree: Remember we said we love Tim Tebow? Well, he inspires me. How, you ask? Yeah, I know you didn’t ask but I’ll tell you anyway. He inspires me to keep God in the everyday stuff in my life. He inspires me to want to make a difference, maybe not in another country, but definitely here in my town. And after the way he carried on even though he was injured in the third quarter of the last game, he inspires me to continue even when it hurts.

“I just wanted to show character. You just continue to fight and it doesn’t change who you are, how you play, how you go out there, you should be the same at all times. That’s what I wanted to show, it didn’t matter if it was the first play or the last play or you were down by 42. I was going to be the same player and I was still going to give everything I have. Because that’s all I have to give,”

I never was a huge fan of football, I’d say baseball was my favorite. Tim Tebow did not change that - I multi-tasked during the playoffs. I admire Tim for his unabashed faith in the face of the media, and what he does to help others. No matter what he looked like, I would still think a lot of him. (but it is nice that he’s so handsome =D)

Jeannie:  Anne Ortlund. She went through illness and surgeries along with her husband’s illness and through it all wrote a conversational, hilarious book about how to be a cheerful woman and relying on God instead of your own strength.
